Lacuna Coil
Lacuna Coil took gothic metal out of the underground and onto American radio in the early 2000s, with Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro’s dual-vocal trade-off becoming a formula half the genre borrowed. Milan built them; Ozzfest made them.
They anchor Italy in the lab’s atlas: the country’s most durable heavy export and the connective node to every beauty-and-beast vocal pairing that followed.
