Enslaved

Enslaved came out of the original early-90s Norwegian black metal wave and then did the one thing none of their peers managed: they kept evolving for thirty years without a reset. Viking themes, Pink Floyd textures, prog structures — all grafted onto a black metal root system that never quite disappears.

For the lab they’re the bridge band: the node where extreme metal’s most notorious scene connects to the progressive tradition it supposedly despised.
